Cast of Characters
In a Traditional British Panto, characters that are generally considered a “male” role might be played by a female and vice versa. For example, the ‘DAME‘ is always played by a man. The “HERO” may be a woman. And so it goes…
“Singing Ability” means able or willingness to sing. More of a ‘nice to have’ but not mandatory. Certain roles will be singing solos and duets. Songs are usually short, with some numbers involving the Chorus.
|Tiddleywink||A goodly fairy, Storyteller.|
|King Rupert||King of Stoneybrook, wise ruler and Father to Aurora.|
|Chester||The King’s Valet, and resident DJ.|
|Aurora||Unknown to her, she’s the King’s daughter, and a sound sleeper.||Singing Ability|
|Prince Arthur||The Hero, a Prince.||Singing Ability|
|Big Red||The Dame. A rather large fairy. This role is played by a middle-aged man.||Singing Ability|
|Olive Garden||A goodly fairy, wise and in charge.||Singing Ability|
|Bluegrass||A goodly fairy, more practical than intellectual.||Singing Ability|
|Maleficent||An evil, no good, fairy, a true villain to the core.||Singing Ability|
|Crow||A hench-bird to Maleficent, a dirty rotten scoundrel.||Singing Ability|
|Porcini||A mushroom who deals with rare antiquities.|
|Chorus||Fairies, Crows, Knights, Swamp Baddies, Goodly Fae Folk, Courtiers, Villagers, and the odd goblin.||Dancing and background action.|
