An Evening of One Acts 2016

About the Plays
The Laughing Stock rings in spring with a showcase of four very funny short one act plays in our popular Dinner Theatre arena. In choosing our line up we looked to the ‘laugh out loud’ style of British and American comedies written by some very clever playwrights.
The Accident
by Herb Hasler
Directed by Carlo Sia
A small theatre company is preparing for opening night of their friend’s original play when an accident prevents the truck carrying costumes and props from arriving. Determined to salvage the production, the actors stage the play using other actors and their stagehands as scenery.
The Accident is presented by special arrangement with Lazy Bee Scripts, Southampton.
Pillow Talk
by Peter Tolan
Directed by Walter Hunt
In PILLOW TALK, two heterosexual men, Aaron and Doug, are forced to share a bedroom and a bed in the mobile home of Aaron’s dotty old grandmother. Hampered by Doug’s phobic fear of physical intimacy, the characters are forced to examine their feelings about friendship and each other. As the battle lines are drawn, they get little sleep and a night full of surprises.
Pillow Talk is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
The Rental
by Mark Harvey Levine
Directed by Lorraine Korobanik
Sonya receives an extraordinary birthday present — a rented boyfriend. He’s the perfect man for her — but he’s only there for a day.
The Rental is presented by special arrangement with Mark Harvey Levine.
Changing Rooms
by Jackie Carreira
Directed by Vance Schneider
Bride-to-be Sophia and her prospective mother-in-law Rosa are having difficulty choosing a mutually acceptable wedding gown. Meanwhile, Jo is trying to find a pair of Jeans to fit, Gemma is struggling with a top and her boyfriend Sam is wondering why he’s spending so long waiting outside the cubicles. Fortunately, there’s Maggie, the ever-smiling shop assistant, always on hand to offer some very pointed advice.
Changing Rooms is presented by special arrangement with Lazy Bee Scripts, Southampton.
